DAWN’S EMBRACE
A sweet powerful dawn,
the full array of softness
from the subtle ineffable pink
through to a rich pale blue
a roof above the strong pink
that sits under the clouds,
a comforting presence
. . .
My city it there,
between the bare branches
of the crazy trees in front
their towers winking
waking,
a reassuring presence
. . .
Only the trains are awake
a noisy streak and rumble
beside me
resonant of the Dharmadhatu rumble,
an awakening presence
. . .
Freedom has its own responsibilities,
to stay or go into vastness?
to move into the raging world?
to be ever-present?

From dawn as a temporal threshold, Letter from Mongolia 16: Tsagaan Sar: a seasonal threshold turns to the ritual, social and environmental transitions surrounding the Mongolian Lunar New Year.
For another expression of attentive reflection, Artscape 09: Gratitude considers devotional poetry, lineage continuity and the rare Buddhist texts of the Guru Deva Library of Congress collection.
