The connection between Soundscape 13: Magnolian Waltz and Intermedia 15: Цэнхэрийн голоор нутаг минь lies in their shared focus on piano music as a means of engaging with Mongolian cultural expression. Magnolian Waltz is a new intermediate composition inspired by a traditional melody, while Intermedia 15 provides cultural and interpretive context for Byambasuren Sharav’s Цэнхэрийн голоор нутаг минь (My Homeland Along the Tsenkher River), an established work in modern Mongolian piano repertoire. One introduces learners to Mongolian melodic influence through original composition, while the other deepens understanding of a recognised cultural work through historical and musical framing. Read together, they show how the CP in Mongolia intermedia archive brings new creative practice into dialogue with well-known works of Mongolian musical heritage.
