If you are a musician, and are interested in studying Mongolian music, Egshiglen has one of the best Mongolian national instrument collections in Ulaanbaatar. I’ve been visiting this shop since 2004, and in terms of sheet music, every time I search through their shelves to further my study, I discover wonderful new books of traditional folk and classical music notation for piano by Mongolian composers. These days, some even have forewords and titles translated into the English language. This was certainly not the case when I first visited Mongolian two decades ago. Photograph: T. Monhceceg.
